Jack D. Sayers was born on February 21, 1931 in Okmulgee OK., and passed away peacefully at his home on September 3, 2014 in Austin, TX
He was a longtime resident of Midland. He is survived by his wife Marvel Sayers of 62 years, daughter Kay Weaver, and Grandson Chris Weaver and Cere and two great grandsons Chance and Caydon, Two sisters Sue and Walt Johnson of Big Bear CO., Diann and Bob Shannon of Aurora CO. many nieces and nephews from Florida and Colorado.
He served in the Air force for Four years and played Semi Pro Baseball. Jack received a B. S. degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1958 from Tulsa University. Shortly after he made his way to West Texas. During this time he was with Honolulu oil, Waterflood Associates in Artesia New Mexico and James A Lewis Eng., before forming Sayers Operating Co. in Texas and Wyoming. Jack had suffered a debilitating stroke in 1988. He was a member of AIME and a registered Professional Eng. in Texas. An avid tennis player and loved spending time with his friends at the Racquet Club.
A Celebration of his life will be held at Sherlock's Pub Sat., September 20th at 4PM. on Hwy 183.
