After graduating from the University of Arkansas, Lee spent six years in the U.S. Army "A" Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry in the 25th Infantry Division, including a tour as a commanding officer in the Vietnam War. While in Tulsa, Lee met and married Sue Shirley while attending the Victory Bible Institute in 1983. In 1987 the Lord spoke to Pastor Lee and told him it was time to leave Tulsa, where he and Sue were Assistant Pastors at Victory Christian Center. In August of 1988, Lee and Sue moved to Austin and started Victory Christian Center of Austin. Pastors Lee and Sue and the congregation of Victory Austin celebrated the church's 25th anniversary in 2013.
