On January 15, 2015 James Robert "Poppi" Deily passed away peacefully at Heart Hospital of Austin in Austin, Texas surrounded by his family. James was 84 years old.

James was born in Evanston, Illinois on October 18, 1930. He was the only son of Phillip Robert Deily and Harriet Allan Deily.

James served 2 years in the Navy ROTC at the University of New Mexico Albuquerque and served 4 years in the US Navy. James was attached to the US Naval Construction Battalion "Seabees" as a medical corpsman. After his military service, James attended and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Chemistry. He worked as a research chemist for Texaco Chemical in Austin, Texas for 36 years.

James married Elodia Carbajal on July 20, 1952. He is survived by is wife of 64 years, Elodia Carbajal Deily, son Michael James Deily and wife Laurie, daughter Georgia Loy Svrcek and husband Joseph and daughter Lisa OCallaghan and Sam Qatami. James is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Kendra Louise Jimenez, Alexandra Caitlin Young, James Phillip Seyer, Matthew Lewis Seyer, Mark Allen Seyer, Brian David OCallaghan, Marissa Dawn OCallaghan and Sara Elizabeth OCallaghan and four great grandchildren.

James was an acrolyte at St. Louis Catholic Church, Director of the Food Pantry for seven years and active in the Boy Scouts as a Scout Master at St. Louis Catholic Church.

Rosary and memorial service will be held at Austin-Peel Funeral Home, 607 E. Anderson Lane, Austin, Texas on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 4:30 pm and burial in Goliad, Texas at La Bahia Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 18, 2015.
