Pedro Benavidez Jr.
Pedro Benavidez Jr., 65, of Austin, Texas, beloved husband of Mary T. Benavidez for 49 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on July 2, 2015.
He was predeceased by his father Pedro H. Benavidez and mother Dora Benavidez and brother Emilio Benavidez. Pedro was born in Corpus Christi. He volunteered to join the Army during the Vietnam war and served 2 tours with the 173 Airborne (1969 - 1970). Upon his return he continued his service with the National Guard.
Pedro worked as a body man, paving roads and excavating. During his life many became his close friends.
Pedro is survived by his 5 sons and 1 daughter. Pedro Benavidez III and his wife Sandra of Austin; Adam
Benavidez; Julian Benavidez and wife Rafaela of Austin; Augustine Benavidez of Cedar Creek; Ray Benavidez and wife Lona of Cedar Creek; Marie Hernandez and husband Frank of Cedar Creek and his wife Mary T. Benavidez of Cedar Creek. He is survived by his sisters Ramona Romas and husband Siraco of Dallas, Consuelo Love and husband Bill of Utah, Gloria Benavidez of Florida and brothers, Gudalupe Moya and Mary of Corpus Christi and Ruben Benavidez of Corpus Christi. He has 31 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He loved being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to ride his Harley and was always surrounded by many that loved him. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him. The family would like to thank Asecare Hospice of Bastrop for all their support and service.
A viewing will be held from 3-8pm on Monday July 6, 2015 at Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home 607 East Anderson Lane Austin, TX with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held honoring Pedro on Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at San Jose Catholic Church followed by Interment at Assumption Cemetery.
