Walter Sherman Bauer, Jr., beloved husband, father , and grandfather passed away peacefully on July 19, 2010. He was born September 26, 1935.
He graduated from Llano High School and played football for TCU. He then joined the Coast Guard and after that he went to Barber School and was a barber for 45 years. His hobbies were hunting and fishing on the Llano River.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vera Pauline Bauer; his three daughters, Terry Bauer Joy and her husband Garry Joy, Sherlene Bauer Gillette and her husband Michael Gillette, and Traci Mitchell and her husband Frank Mitchell; and his four grandchildren, Lisa Gillette, Clay Joy, Amber Joy, and Meleah Mitchell; his three sisters, Mary Jane Smith, Lillian Draper, and Dorothy Schuessler; and one brother, Winfred Bauer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Sherman Bauer, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Bauer and his brother, Weldon Bauer.
Everyone who knew him will miss his jokes, his laughter, and his warm smile. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him especially his family.
Visitation will be Thursday July 22, 2010 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home, 607 East Anderson Lane, Austin, Texas 78752. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at Austin-Peel.
