Guestbook for Ronald Baxter Harrist Showing 1 - 5 of 18 entries.

My first "best man," but always a best man. He should have been the last to go, and I shall always miss him. Memories: camping in NM; college, good times and pranks; and visiting in Houston, at the livestock show. He was good to the core, and turned out well.

I knew and loved Ron's parents. His mother was a student in my mother's Carlisle classroom (1922-24). Ron had already graduated from high school before I knew Lynn and Phil when they were in Frenship with my children, but when I would ask Edith about Ron, she seemed so glad and pleased to tell me about his many accomplishments. She was very proud of her sons.

This may be a tribute to Ron's mother, a wonderful woman, and all three of her sons.

I met Ron and Kay through a martial arts program some five or more years ago. I always enjoyed working with them. Ron not only contributed what he had physically but demonstrated a sincere interest in understanding the material from all angles. Students in the program were expected to not only paritcipate in class exercises but contribute to the well being of the program as a whole. Both Ron and Kay did numerous times by showing up on grounds maintenance days when light work was done on the property around the dojo. I thought this was the ultimate in commitment to a group. The world has lost a fine man but believe he lives on through his kind generosity and mentoring to those around him.

To Ron's family:

Thanks to Ron for brightening our
lives. Always ready to help, wanting
no praise; always ready to praise
others....

Ron was always my "smart cousin" and I had a bad case of hero worship for him. Ron, you have left your temporary home, your family and friends... for a while. See you soon.
